HCS Apps are compatible with Mac computers with Apple silicon

At WWDC 2020, Apple announced they will be using the ARM chips for future Macs. While testing the new chip and coming OS, HCS apps are compatible with Apple silicon.

Establish your first Mac deployment

HCS Technology Group will help you implement a proof of concept (POC) efficiently and aligned with best practices for easily deploying Mac in your organization.

With the release of new hardware features in the MacBook Pro (13-inch/15-inch, Late 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) the setup assistant has added a few new steps.

Apple annocued that the new Macbook Pros would have Touch ID and like iOS Devices the setup assistnat now includes adding a finger print when a computer is initially being configured. Similar to iOS you simply apply your finger to the Touch bar on the far right corner, where the power button was, and let macOS capture your finger print. Should you need to add or remove fingerprints simply naviagte to System Preferences and you will now see a new Touch ID preference pane. It is also caled out in the user guide that you can:

  1. Press and hold the Touch ID (power button) for a few seconds to turn o your MacBook Pro

You check out the user guide for the late 2016 Macbook Pro here:

Another addition the setup assistnant is the abiity to configure the use of Apple Pay and Wallet with your Mac.  Becuase I signed into iCloud during the setup assistnat I only had to confirm my credit card since it was already being used on another device.  Apple Pay and wallet now have a correspdoing System Preference pay where you can add additonal cards, update contact information and see your transaction history for cards being used.

While not due to the release of new hardware macOS Sierra now requires users to have have a local password that is different than their Apple ID .  If your local password is identical to your Apple ID you are now are required to change it. If you upgrade or update your Mac you will be asked to change it as it check to see if they are the same. For users who previously used iCloud Password or just wanted the same for convienience you will need to conisder this when setting up, migratined or upgrading a new Mac. It should be noted that you can change it back but during the 10.12.1 update I was required to change to something other than my Apple ID password
